Lots of people say things like “Life is an adventure. Believe it or not, your daily life is a journey. It is your turn to overcome and see the world”. These words seem right for me. As you know, people who knows the job the best is the workers. That is because they know what they are doing better than anyone who just know the job but never has experience in that kind of job. Yes, in this case, I dreamed a lot of becoming an adventurer. But I am not going to be an adventurer like those in Indiana Jones films. My adventure is all about martial arts. This may sounds crazy, but this is me. If you asked me why I chose adventurer as my extra-ordinary job, I can give you a good explanation about it. But a job depends on each person. Different people must have different dream job although some of them may find that their passion for a job is same.
Being an adventurer who wants to masters one kind of martial art is quite easy if you asked me. But I wonder what will you said if my adventure starts with trying all sub division of that martial art? My crazy dream is to know and understand most of unique sub division of Wushu, the traditional martial art that origin comes from the mountains of China. I have passion about this martial art if you asked. Some of my friends knew that I master some kinds of contemporary martial arts, but most of them did not know that my art comes from the mix of traditional arts. My passion of Wushu let me jump into martial arts world where I can start my adventure in training many arts apart from the contemporary one. After understanding about how those martial arts work in real life and the benefit of practicing those arts, I think about publishing a book that tells my adventure or a book that tells people how a martial arts can enhanced our health. I am quite good in writing things I guess, but I need a lot of improvisation. In my mind, when you have a passion for a job, you will do anything for that job. It is not because what you already know, it is about things that you loved a lot. “Money is not the most important thing in a career, but it is about your passion in the job”, my father said. I agree with this because in my mind when you have the passion, you will do the job with the most of your heart, and from that, money will come right up to you. I start my career from passion and that passion will not let me down. I believe that.
Being an adventurer is suitable for me. I am a freelancer. I am pursuing experience in life. I am pursuing the knowledge about how to survive in this radical-liberalist era. I am not the type of a person who can sit down and doing things that people asked me for. I am the one who pursue freedom and happy life. And I will not let anyone put me in some sort of cage. I want a job that makes me doing things I loved a lot without pressure. I think an adventurer’s working condition is the best job you can think of if you are the same freedom pursuer as much as I do. If you become an adventurer, you can work wherever you want, whenever you desire, without any pressure. Still, if you are doing a research for government or company, you will be under pressure because your research takes a lot of money. But if you are doing the research on your own cost, and after it is finished you can sell your knowledge and experience to people by writing books. I think Andrea Hirata and his Rainbow Troops tetra logy (Rainbow Troops, Dreamer, Edensor, and Maryamah Karpov) might be a good example for it. As for me, experience is the best teacher in the world. If you learn from your experiences, you will find yourself grow up day by day. My family and my society did not teach me about how to become a wise person. The experience itself makes me the one you know now. The best working conditions for a job is the one that can teach about how to become a person. Being an adventurer will let me know how to overcome many hardships I will face in reality. Still, freedom in pursuing a career is my number second list nowadays.
This is the topic that I hated to talk the most. It is all about money. When we are talking about a job, the first thing that will sneak into our mind is “How much payment I will get if I choose this path for a career”? Yes, it is obvious if we do a job for getting the payment. But is this important? Yes, this is quite important. If you did not have the money you need, you will not be able to continue living in this high-materialistic world. I do want to become a rich man. But money is not that important for me. I know we need money to supply our lives with goods we need by using money for exchange. But it is different if you are an adventurer. An adventurer lives by using they could get for free and provided by the nature. Adventurers learn about how to survive without using money instead using resources they could gather in their surroundings. So, adventurers can live without money but they also need money in case they were in an urgent errand. Adventurers need money to buy laptops for typing their experience, and tools they need to survive in the wilderness. Yes, even the most reliable person need money to survive, but I am still thinking about it.
Being an adventurer is my extra-ordinary dream job. Personally, I want to work in an industry that focused on research and development. Doing things that you want sounds enjoyable, but doing things you can gives you a lot of benefits. From my point of view, adventure can start in many ways. Adventure is not about living in the wild and survive the day. Adventure is about doing something with passion and understands how it benefits you. There is a lot of adventure you can find in many jobs. Maybe I talked a lot about being an adventurer who can survive in the wildness of world at the last three paragraphs above. But the real thing that I want to say is if you want to do a job, you have to do it with passion. If you already choose a job, you have to give all of you heart for the job. If you are doing a job, you have to do it willingly and never give up whether there are many hardships that you may encounter. And if you have finished the job, you will have to know that all of experiences and benefits you get start from believing that you can do the job. Choosing a career is easy, but doing the job you get in the career is not as easy as you could imagine. It is already night when I wrote this essay. And I am still wondering if I want to become an adventurer or anyone else. As far as I can say, the most important point in choosing the path of a career starts with understanding who I really am.
